Welcome!

Clients

I work with adults, individuals and couples. In consultations and sessions some share that they have been reading and learning things about themselves yet feel stuck. Some have just experienced a challenging event in their life or are suffering from an accumulation of them. Some have benefited from therapy many times before and know when they need to return. And others arrive having been encouraged by a concerned friend or partner. My own experience was a combination of the above, having some immediate crises piled on top of prior years of challenges. I am grateful for the guides, mentors, and teachers on my journey, leading to my serving as a guide after many years of therapy, training, and of course life experience.

Thank-you for being here now, and I admire your initiative in taking this first step.

Areas of Practice

My many areas of practice are detailed on my own website and some examples are: intimacy/relationship, bereavement/grief/loss, transitions, adoption/adoptee issues; stress, family of origin/childhood trauma/abuse, conflict/anger, depression, anxiety, HSP (highly sensitive persons), addictions, ADD, self-esteem, shame, sexuality, illness/accident, spiritual crisis, employee counselling, career counseling, etc.

Services

In my work, I guide clients in exploring their difficulties and their strengths, both in their psyche and in their life. I facilitate new perspectives, skills, solutions, and offer tools so that clients can realize success, along with a broader and deeper understanding of themselves. My approach is holistic, drawing upon clinical, psychodynamic, humanistic, existential, and spiritual traditions.

Biography

I have a B.Sc. in Psychology from McMaster University and an M.A. in Counselling Psychology from Union Institute & University (formerly Norwich University in Vermont). I am a member of CAPT and have been in private practice for 10 years.

Related to counselling, I have worked with social services agencies in the community as a facilitator for: violence awareness and prevention workshops; immigrant integration services; and counseling skills workshops. I provide employee counseling services to employers and work with an agency as a practitioner for trauma cases. My previous career was in human resources. I practice under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist or Registered Psychological Associate who are members of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. As a result, I am covered by insurance plans.

Over the years, I have attended ongoing continuing education through conferences, workshops, and courses. I have extensive volunteer experience with children, families, agencies and other institutions and have participated in various cultural and spiritual communities. As a parent, I currently spend time in family and school interests, and a kundalini yoga practice.

Facilities

I practice at the Toronto Healing Arts Centre near Bloor & Christie, in a private, comfortable office, close to both subway and parking.
