Therapy Toronto: Psychotherapy Self-referral Service for Toronto and the GTA

Lia Falzon RP, Dip ATPPP, Affiliate TPS&I, DTATI

I am a registered psychotherapist and a member of the College of Registered of Ontario.

As a graduate and affiliate member of the Toronto Psychoanalytic Society, my psychotherapy training focuses on the many ways the unconscious attempts to repeat behaviours that make sense in some ways but can also be limiting.

The term “talking cure” was originally coined by Freud and today we believe that psychodynamic psychotherapy leans into the term and the process can help bring about desired understanding and consequently open exploration of new ways of dealing with old challenges.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is a collaborative process and together we explore those concerns. During psychotherapy, you may come to understand that limiting patterns can be a result of trying to find ways to manage feelings and circumstances.

The psychotherapy relationship can encourage and empower you to work through limiting beliefs and behaviours. As trust builds, I will listen closely and bring attention to possible unconscious motivations, that may have helped you in the past, but no longer serve you or even, needed.

You may notice shifts in your behaviour, more ease in your way of being and a different understanding of who you are. Relationships can become easier. As you feel heard and understood, destructive habits, which has been a way of coping, may make room for something new.

I am passionate about helping people realize their potential and living the life they would prefer. My studies and training include EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and art therapy.

Without judgement, I can help individuals discover their core desires and together we can explore how you can bring them to fruition.

Psychotherapy can benefit you if you:
